plynyl doormats, from chilewich

October 13th, 2008

We finally bought plynyl doormats, from Chilewich (in chesnut) for our front entry and rear sliding doors.  Very hot.

Clean+istry is generally not impressed with maintenance guidelines offered by manufacturers, but the plynyl website knocked our shoes off. (figuratively speaking.  We strictly adhere to a shoes-off policy)
Plynyl is a woven synthetic fiber that is frequently installed [...]

paprya is not your mother’s shag carpet

July 31st, 2008

Paprya is not your mother’s shag carpet. By Ulf Moritz for Danskina, it is made of 45% paper, 55% wool (for toughness) and then treated with a water-resistant solution.

Its 1.5 inch pile can be vacuumed (which attachment?) and spot cleaned. At $106 a square foot, we’d prefer testing it first.
Available in 12 [...]

crevasse prep sink from kohler

July 7th, 2008

The Crevasse Prep Sink from Kohler was featured in last week’s NYT’s home section.

Clean+istry has known (and envied) people with a food prep slot built into the kitchen countertop (we don’t know the exact term), allowing for quick clean-up of chopped items during food preparation. The food simply falls into a trash receptacle installed [...]

July 2nd, 2008

When it comes to cleaning the digital house, how many lives of plasma television screens have been cut prematurely short by well-intentioned brigades of housekeepers with bottles of Windex and rolls of paper towels?
Audiovox Accessory Corp, the maker of all manner of digital accessories, comes to the rescue this fall with Surface, a series [...]

June 26th, 2008

In the beginning there was the Bubble Chair by Phillippe Starck. And that was good.

Weatherproof, UV resistant, in roto-molded polypropylene. Inset grooves along the seat allow for water drainage. Perfect for outdoor applications. Tough enough for commercial purposes and still good, after all these years, for the modern home with a [...]

The Brookville Rug, made from DuraCord, resists stains, is UV resistant (no fading) and stands up to the weather. The DuraCord fiber is hand-hooked to create a tufted [...]

richardson reeves console melds old and new

June 11th, 2008

The Richardson Reeves Console melds old and new by shaping reclaimed pine planks into a spare and modern silhouette. This piece would rest as comfortably on the Ponderosa as it would in a smart Tribeca loft.

Available through the Sundance Catalog, comprehensive care and maintenance guidelines have been provided (bravo, Sundance!) which we print in their [...]
