Saturday’s San Francisco Chronicle features several homes designed and built following the 1991 fires in Oakland and Berkley which clearly demonstrate that fire resistant materials can be both architecture and maintenance friendly.
This 2007 house designed by David Stark Wilson features zinc siding and should remain maintenance free for the life of the house.

Control device manufacturer IDEC has developed a high-tech dog bath system called Wan Love Yu (”Dog Love Bath”), which eliminates the need for shampoo. Instead it relies on technology typically found in industrial water treatment systems.
