We spent considerable time with vacuums in 2008 because the vacuum may be the most important household cleaning appliance EVER created. Nothing does so much to eliminate the dust and grim that will attack your furniture and floors.

The EnviroVac bagless cleaner, Z2952A claims to be the energy saving light bulb of vacuum cleaners by using 30% less energy, while picking up 20% more than the competition.

Consumer Reports rates top vacuums in its October 2008 issue.
The Kenmore (Sears) Progressive with Direct Drive 35922 (above) topped the upright division. This bag-equipped Kenmore upright has manual pile-height adjustment, a full-bag indicator, suction control, a brush on/off switch, and HEPA filtration. It weighs 21 lbs. Overall score: 75/100. Price: $350.

Bona Hardwood Floor Cleaner is GreenGuard Certified for indoor air quality. We use it. It’s our favorite.

We finally bought plynyl doormats, from Chilewich (in chesnut) for our front entry and rear sliding doors. Very hot.
Clean+istry is generally not impressed with maintenance guidelines offered by manufacturers, but the plynyl website knocked our shoes off. (figuratively speaking. We strictly adhere to a shoes-off policy)
