recession cleaning, part 1: pH nuetral dishwashing detergent

Welcome to recession cleaning, part 1:  pH nuetral dishwashing detergent.

Clean+istry has said this time and time again: a good pH neutral dishwashing detergent is one of the most versatile cleaning solutions you CAN EVER have in the house.  It does a million things.  Here are four.

Countertops.  We can’t think of a single countertop material that will respond negatively to a couple of drops of detergent on a sponge, followed by a rinse with a wet sponge free from detergent, followed finally with a buff using a dry cloth.  Don’t get us wrong, we love Method’s Daily Granite.  It has magical properties creating a shine with ease.  But we get the same result with detergent and a buff.

Floors.  A couple of drops of detergent in a bucket makes an excellent solution for most tile floors (we use it on our cork kitchen floor too).  Be sure to rinse with clear water, followed-up with a clean, dry mop.

Bathroom tiles.  Unless you have a mold and mildew issue, soapy water followed up by (you guessed it) clean water and towel drying is all you need to maintain most shower walls.

Dishes.  Oh right.  Those too.
