indoor fall clean-up
October 27th, 2008November is upon us and we almost forgot to review indoor fall clean-up chores. As we have repeatedly stated on this blog, given the quality of home construction Fall/Spring cleaning requirements are largely bi-annual reminders to attend to deeper cleaning details.
It is a fact that as temperatures drop fresh air circulation rates in your home decline. Think before locking yourself indoors with dust, grit and the deceased bodies of tiny insects that wafted through your home during the summer months. These 4 basic steps will get you started:
- Dust walls using a microfiber duster. We love our Bona Big Bend for this job.
- Vacuum upholstery and drapes. Consider professional cleaning, particularly rugs and upholstered furniture.
- Vacuum all heating/cooling grills and registers, but consider a professional cleaning of the entire ventilation system to remove dust particles and allergens. Clean+istry has its ventilation system cleaned once a year.
- Did you have the chimney of your fireplace swept professionally last April? We didn’t think so. You are not a bad person, just a bit lazy. Start the winter fire season fresh.
If you feel strapped for time in completing these tasks do not worry. Next weekend the clocks will “fall back” back to Standard Time. You will have one extra hour to clean!
