corian care

These trays by FTF Design Studio are made from Corian. And they are perfect. Maintain them (works for Corian countertops too) by following the simple steps after the jump.

Though Corian is durable and scratch resistant, it will scratch. Avoid chopping directly on the tray (or countertop). If slicing cheese, use a blunt knife. Don’t confuse Corian with a trivet. Do not place hot plates or pots directly on its surface.

For everyday cleaning, use a pH neutral soap (Mrs. Meyers) and sponge and wipe spills promptly after they occur. Dry with a soft kitchen towel.

For common spills, such as vinegar, coffee, tea, lemon juice, dyes, ketchup or red wine, treat with a mild cream abrasive (try our soft scrub) or a powder such as Bon Ami or Bar Keepers Friend. Apply first with a sponge, rubbing always in a circular motion. If the stain persists, use a green Scotch-Brite no-scratch pad or its equivalent. Again, rubbing in a circular motion will blend the affected area with the rest of the surface.

If the scratch or stain is deeper, hand sand with 400-grit wet and dry sandpaper. Blend the surface using a mild cream abrasive and the steps mentioned above. If the stain remains, call the professionals.
