From time to time Clean+istry dreams, only to wake and learn that our dreams have come true. Why simply pad about the house in tube socks when you could be dusting at the same time? And at $9.95 a pop, keep a pile at the front door for dinner guests who should be [...]

We were trolling about Williams-Sonoma and learned that the Miele Dog & Cat model, featuring a handheld turbo brush, is actually designed to remove pet hair–and the far more difficult to detect dander–from upholstery, curtains, etc. Who knew?
Clean+istry is the satisfied owner of an early version of the Dog & Cat, sans the handheld [...]

If Clean+istry were younger, commencing its career, and lacking a fear of heights, professional window cleaning would most certainly make the short list. Glass and steel condominiums are sprouting in New York City like asparagus in freshly tilled soil.
Clean windows provide an intangible quality of freshness to a room that even the most scrubbed floor [...]

Nothing says “if I chose to cook, I would be very serious about it” better than stainless steel in the kitchen. Fingerprints on stainless steel surfaces, however, are annoying, like dinner guests who will not take their leave promptly after dessert is served.

Earlier this week we mentioned that Borax could be hard to find on a supermarket shelf. We discovered it in our chronically under-stocked Manhattan grocery store, but that’s just weird.
Speaking of odd, we happened on a site aptly named Soaps Gone Buy, which stocks and sells a large variety of soaps and detergents from [...]

Clean+istry has made an uncompromising vow of taste. We will never purchase an item for use in cleaning that would be necessary to hide in a closet if the editors of Dwell came knocking at our door without notice, demanding full and immediate access to our home for a photo shoot. Though we [...]

Clean+istry is wrapping up a 16 month (scheduled to last 8, but who’s counting) renovation and expansion of our weekend retreat. The ongoing post-construction clean-up for the past two months very nearly tapped Clean+istry’s extensive resources and, more importantly, resolve to clean.
Fortunately, we have emerged victorious from our plaster dust-induced stupor to clean another [...]
